Clinical Pilates is an individually designed strengthening and stretching program that is receiving world wide recognition for its use in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and as effective tool in enhancing general strength, flexibility and function and improving overall well being.

Clinical Pilates focuses on improving core stability (strengthening the stomach and back muscles). This increased core stability improves your overall body strength as well as aiding in the recovery of spinal injuries and reducing this risk of injury/re-injury.

Pilates is an exercise regime using specific floor based exercises and spring resisted equipment to train and control the body's deep postural muscles whilst focusing on relaxation and breathing to utilise the most effective pathway for normal movement and function.

Key areas trained are the deep abdominal and lower back muscles, deep pelvic/hip muscles, and the upper and middle back muscles. The purpose of training these muscles is to provide stability, strength and control to the lower back, pelvic and hip joints, upper back, neck and shoulder regions.

At Domain Health we have a fully equipped Pilates and training studio where you will exercise under the supervision of highly experienced Physiotherapists and Pilates instructors. The Pilates exercises focus on your core stability with creative and varied exercises on the floor, fitball and specialised Pilates equipment.

This is the big difference between our Pilates program and those Pilates classes at gymnasiums. At gyms there are large classes where everyone performs the same exercises, whether they are appropriate for your level of fitness or not. At Domain Health, the program is tailored for each individual at their level of fitness - so you will always receive an appropriate level of exercise for YOU.
